Failure…

Well I have officially failed at quitting smoking cold turkey… two days ago I had Andy buy me a pack and I have smoked two cigarettes each day for the last few days I feel awful… I feel like I have disappointed everyone including myself… it’s like I am torn I don’t want to smoke, but it’s such a part of my daily life, it’s so hard not too… It’s kind of like a comfort thing if I don’t have any I want them even more than if they are sitting right in front of me… I want to just not want them but right now I do…. grrrrr…. so for now I guess 2 a day is better than a pack a day, which is what I was smoking… so oh well I guess I will just keep trying..

Going Strong!

I thought I would give an update, it’s been a few days now and I still haven’t smoked! Woo hoo! Or as Auntie Val said Hip Hip Hooray! lol It’s really hard, the physical cravings are gone, no more shakiness. But the mental addiction is crazy, after I eat, when I get in the car, when I get up in the morning… I feel like I have to have a smoke. Luckily Andy’s there telling me to be strong and that it will only hurt my lungs, which helps a lot. Anyhow… Just thought I would give an update and let everyone know all is well!

Sickness=Health

Well I have been sick now for about 2 weeks. I think I’ve had some kind of lung infection, not sure… I do know I am starting to feel better, and one good thing about being this sick is I haven’t been able to smoke as often as I do. So today I decided once and for all that I am DONE smoking! I even had Andy throw away what’s left of my cig’s. So it’s going to be a hard few weeks or days or months, whatever… all I know for sure is it hurts my lungs like hell to smoke and I’m tired of it. I want to live. So I can say now I am a Non-smoker! Woot!

Why did the Chicken cross the road??

So, lately things haven’t been too eventful. I have had a really bad cold the last couple days so I’ve just been trying to relax. So today as I’m lying on the couch coughing my face literally OFF, Andy comes in from walking Riblet with this huge grin on his face, I asked him snippily, WHAT”S SO FUNNY??

He said, basically, “I was walking the dog, and this cop was circling the complex, and then out of no where this car stopped, rolled down his window and asked me ‘Have you seen a brown chicken around here?’ I laughed and said, Um no I think my dog would have noticed a Chicken! The guy then said Thanks and drove away!” 

I was laughing so hard I almost wet myself and Nate (Andy’s brother) even added to the amusement by saying, “Maybe the cop was looking for the chicken guy? He probably escaped from somewhere!” Oh man I have been so miserable the last few days and that cheered me up, so I just wanted to share what I thought was a funny moment in Virginian life!

Tired but typing!

Hey everyone, I’m finally typing a blog! We got here to Richmond, Va about a month ago, but things have been crazy busy, unlike the last time i was here and just sitting in the house bored all day! The trip here was eventful to say the least. Everyone reading this knows about the craziness at Chari’s, and again THANK YOU to Chari for being so great! It seemed like once we got on the road from California to here everyday was a new owie for me, In Texas I fell in the McDonalds parking lot in a mud puddle and scraped up my knee pretty bad. Then the last day I cut my big toe on who knows what in the car lol. Other than those two major ones I only had little owies like bonking my head on the car door and things like that, but the running joke along the way with me and Andy was, “what will Amber hurt today”. I wasn’t able to drive as much as I wanted to help Andy out because of my Owies, but I was able to keep track of some neat things along the way, we counted the roadkill we saw in each state, wrote down funny street names, and counted crazy drivers, but silly me I lost the list!!! grrrrr But here is what we remember, California had the second highest roadkill behind Oklahoma, Calinfornia=17 and Oklahoma=32 yep thats right in half of the miles of California, Oklahoma had twice as much roadkill… and some of the funny names I remember were Della St. for Mom lol…. I think one was called turn dike road or something along the lines where me and Andy said I guess the dikes go there??? lol That was in Texas I think! We stayed at mainly Motel 6′s along the way because they were the cheapest. Most were ok, some better than others! The last one we stayed in had a nice Jacuzzi bathtub in our room that we gave Riblet an awesome bath in lmao… Well enough about the trip.  We got to Virginia safe and sound, and after the first week of recouperating I started helping at Grandma’s, from what I remember of her last time, she seems the same, except that she has to take her walker everywhere now, which last time I was here, only occasinally did she use it. She of course argues with us the whole way that she doesn’t need it, which makes me smile, I don’t mind a fiesty Grandma everyone else in the family seems to be exhausted. They have been caring for her for years, so I can understand that. I’m fresh to the work and I have a lot of experience in caring for the elderly so I think I will have a lot more stamina then they do, which is why I’m here! So I’ve been there helping a lot in the last couple weeks so I haven’t had time to blog, but here I am!!! Riblet seems to be adjusting good, she is in love with Andy’s brother Nate, always kissing and licking on him, I think it’s because he must have food trapped in his goatee lmao! Andy got a job at a resturants called “The Baker’s Crust” and seems to be super excited, he actually hasnt started working yet to make tip, just in a lot of training, but hopefully soon. Speaking of money we are BROKE! lol Been eating a lot of cheap groceries and borrowing money from Nate, the money I make for caring for Grandma is barely enough to cover our rent and car payment. But hopefully Andy will start making money next week. But other than that I am enjoying it here so far.  I miss everyone so much!! And I love you all… here are some pictures I took before during and after the trip, and I will post more soon! Bye for now!

It’s Been a While….

Well, I’m back! Since I last tried this blogging thing, Andy I have driven across the country back to WA fleeing from Virginia! I hated it pretty much. I was so homesick for my family I couldn’t even function well! So the new news, lol I’m moving BACK TO VIRGINIA! Why the hell are you doing that you ask? Well Andy’s brother pretty much has to have some help taking care of their Grandma, and we are thinking his Dad may need some help soon also…. So here we go! On Sunday we are packing up the car and the Riblet, our new puppy, I will post a blog about her soon also! Our plans at this point is to drive down to Sacramento and stay Sunday and Monday night at Chari’s with her and Aunti Val. It will be lots of fun, I’m gonna miss them both so much Anywho, this time we are buying a digital camera for the trip so their will be lots of pictures of us across the country lol.. and I will keep everyone posted! I didn’t forget Auntie Val!!

Well, I have been in Virginia for about a week now… it’s interesting… I am very homesick… but I’m giving it a chance.

The people here are so different, I thought moving here there would be more southern hospitality, but hahahah no way!!! People in Seattle and the northwest in general have a much better understanding of customer service. Also, Nate (Andy’s brother) told me that he saw a study showing that the “smartest” US state was Washington and I think that study was right. Not only are service people on the majority here rude, but stupid as well, I guess they do go hand in hand though. There has been 1 store/restaurant that has not given me something to complain about and that was surprisingly a little drive through place I had never heard of before coming here called chik-fil-a  , I think that’s how it’s spelled. During our visit here a few months ago we went to a place called the Waffle House and I LOVED it. We went 3 times that week. We attempted to go on Tuesday and sat in there for 20 mins with no service, even when we flagged a waitress down she would say, someone will be there in a minute, I know they were sooooo busy with 3 other tables there!!! We finally just got up and left, on the way out the door we passed 4 waitresses chatting and drinking coffee. This is what I mean by rude and stupid, We are great tippers!!! Well enough of that rant hahahah

On the job front nothing new I have put my resume for Activities in a nursing home back on monster, and there is actually an Alzheimers facility a few block away of our new place so on Monday I am going there to drop of my resume, for pretty much ANY position, I really miss working with Alzheimer’s patients.

I haven’t had a real chance to take pictures of the neighborhood or anything because, well, I always forget the darn digital camera and my cell phone pictures suck, but I promise to take loads of pictures soon, the houses here, tree’s, buildings area all so pretty and Victorian style mostly. So I will keep you updated and WOW I wrote a lot hahah
